Meeting the young Guinean Moussa Camara is discovering a brilliant mind in the agro-technological field. It recently won the ORANGE prize for the best social entrepreneurship project in Guinea before being chosen among the ten best projects in this same competition across Africa and the Middle East.
Aged 23, Moussa Camara, an electrical engineering student at Koffi Annan University in Guinea, has already made significant advances in the agro-technological field through the creation of a hydroponic kit which allows plants to grow in water or in an inert space. This innovative solution makes it possible to control several parameters, notably the loss of forests, in order to reconstitute vegetation and help farmers to cultivate whatever the season with a good yield on a small exploitable agricultural area.
The hydroponics concept
Hydroponics is the practice of soilless agriculture. In other words, it is the cultivation of plants carried out without the support of soil but through water. This is therefore the relevance of the project carried out by this young Guinean, Moussa CAMARA, still a student. Through an engineering project, Moussa participated in several competitions in Guinea and around the world.
In Guinea during the Orange social entrepreneurship prize competition where the aim was to support young people in their social development while having scientific projects that solve social problems.“I was competing with more than 50 projects and I won first prize in Guinea, it was a great satisfaction for me,”he rejoices.
This prize for the best project was an opportunity for the young Guinean scientist to export himself internationally and to participate in an Africa and Middle East competition for young people working in agricultural innovation.“In Africa and the Middle East, the competition brought together more than 1,300 entrepreneurial projects in the field of agro-technology. So I presented my hydroponic project and I was selected among the 10 winners.specifies the young Moussa CAMARA, full of emotions on his face.
Technology, a legacy
A native of Conakry where he attended primary and secondary school, he joined the university in Koffi Annan where he did 2 years of preparatory courses, before starting his engineering cycle in 2022. In a month, he plans to apply for his engineering diploma in electrical engineering. Young Moussa has always been passionate about technology, especially agricultural technology.
For him, reconciling agriculture and technology is more of a family heritage. His team is made up mainly of members of his family.“My dad is a chemical engineer and my mom is in the agricultural field. There is also a friend who helps me with the business plan but also my sister who lives in France, who assists me when I do my simulations on site and when I am sure that my technology can work, I order the electronic components and I assemble them. Personally, I am lucky to have the support of parents."says Moussa Camara while smiling.
His ambition to provide technological solutions to social problems was born after several attempts to reach Eldorado to learn technology.
“I tried several times to go to Europe to study, it didn’t work out and I said to myself why not now realize this ambition here. It is in this context that I launched myself while putting into practice what I learn and also taking online courses to improve myself.he reveals.
Innovate to provide sustainable solutions
If you end up working with him, don't worry. Because his motto is perseverance, patience and work. But if you are lazy in work, you need to get rid of it, because it is angry, impulsive.
With his passion, his expertise and his determination inspired by Mountaga KEITA, the boss of “TILIP industries” and the Chinese development model, Moussa CAMARA dreams big. Its contribution to the field of agro-technology is only just beginning and may continue to revolutionize this important sector in the future.
Hey, Guinea is a country in West Africa, known for its wealth of natural resources, its soil but essentially its hydraulic potential. This will therefore speed up and increase performance.“The advantage is that we have the ability to grow in any season. This will allow frequent supply of markets without disruption. So our impact is measured from primary to tertiary through secondary.”, explains the young scientist.
Noble ambitions for the future
Already, there is no shortage of ambitions even if the difficulties present themselves as obstacles for many young scientists. Moussa CAMARA wishes to be a reference in his field in Guinea.“I see myself in the future to be a leader in technology in Guinea. This is why my company that I want to create aims to be the leading technology in Guinea. For this we have several projects to carry out,he said. He is aware that he must perfect his skills in this area to achieve his childhood dream. He says this without embarrassment, but when he moves his tongue, his ambitions spring forth.“My ambition is to create fully autonomous homes where you can order and install anything you want in your home. But also to make the Hydroponic Kit available to farmers to allow them to cultivate anywhere at any time, restore destroyed plant areas to preserve our environment» ambitions Moussa CAMARA.
Furthermore, Moussa also shares his knowledge through training to encourage young people to take the path of entrepreneurship in the field of agro-technology. The young person provides training for toddlers in robotics within Jatropha Hub, the first incubator in the field of technology in Guinea. For Moussa Camara, the state must imperatively support young scientists as part of their training to ultimately drive sustainable development in Guinea. Because to solve the complex problems facing the world, such as climate change, diseases, epidemics and food crises, technological solutions have a big role to play.
