Lisso (Boffa): populations suffer from a lack of health workers…

The community health system is one of the sectors that must necessarily be improved in Guinea. In the prefecture of Boffa (153 km from Conakry) precisely in Lisso (sub-prefecture), the population is faced with this problem of improving their health service. In this locality, the health center has five posts and is experiencing enormous difficulties.
Among so many diseases, malaria is much more common in Lisso. With a population of 13,335 inhabitants, established in 10 districts; the standards required for appropriate care are lacking. Although the geographical position of the center works to the disadvantage of the surrounding populations.
“Lisso is a sub-prefecture which is eccentric in relation to its service area. When I talk about its service area, Lisso borders up to the Télimelé border. And part of Kolia. Now you imagine how difficult the inaccessibility of the area becomes,”explains Namory Traoré, substitute doctor.
In this health center, the consultation rate is lower, due to the fact that access is not easy. Also the hospital infrastructure is in a pitiful state.“Here the consultation rate is very low, this is linked to the distance which separates the center from other districts. The nearest of the districts is 10 km from Lisso. Per day, I do not see more than five patients. Three or two per day and all this due to lack of roads and maintenance of the building which houses the health center. And the most common diseases are malaria, ARI and diarrhea.regrets Namory Traoré.
At the Lisso health center, treatment of patients is taking place, but with very limited material resources, the drug supply plan is not respected and applied as it should be.“With this situation, the deterioration at the patient level will not be long in coming. Also that the work material does not meet the criteria required for better support",the substitute doctor points out.
