The Faculty of Health Sciences and Technology (FSTS) of the Gamal Abdel Nasser University of Conakry (UGANC) is embarking on a strategic approach with the organization of a workshop to review its action plan.
This work, which began on November 14 and ended on November 16 in Coyah, brings together internal and external stakeholders in a constructive dialogue aimed at strengthening its excellence in the fields of health and medical education.
The main objective of the workshop is to revisit the 2020-2024 strategic plan based on a mid-term evaluation and to define new strategic directions. Specific objectives include the presentation of evaluation results, an in-depth SWOT analysis, the definition of strategic directions, the formulation of concrete objectives, and the development of an operational action plan.
Professor Mohamed Cissé, Dean of the FSTS, explains:“In 2019, we developed a strategic plan for the next five years, running from 2020 to 2024. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic impacted its implementation. We are evaluating mid-term to adjust unrealized activities and introduce new ones for the next five years”
The workshop, which brings together around thirty participants over three days, will adopt a participatory approach with presentations, discussions in thematic groups, and plenary sessions. Participants can anticipate tangible results, including a summary report of the mid-term evaluation, a SWOT analysis, strategic directions, specific objectives, an operational action plan, and, ultimately, a revised strategic plan.
Professor Mariama Beavogui, vice-rector in charge of research at UGANC, underlines:“This workshop will enable a frank dialogue to significantly improve university governance. The revised strategic plan is expected to make the FSTS a leader in training in the sub-region.”
To make this workshop a success, the FSTS requested support from the WHO, World Health Organization. Sadou Sow, Acting National Health System Officer at WHO, said: “I hope that at the end of this workshop, all the expected results will be achieved in order to enable the FSTS to improve the quality of teaching to produce quality human resources. »
This workshop provides a crucial platform to shape the future of the FSTS, thereby consolidating its commitment to excellence in health and medical education.
