The Guinean federal office of the Pan-African Movement of Leaders (MPL) and Fli organized a bib distribution campaign this Saturday, June 20 in the commune of Matoto. This initiative is part of the overall effort launched in the country to eradicate the Coronavirus pandemic.
Distributing free of charge to encourage the wearing of masks and tirelessly contribute to breaking the chain of spread of covid-19, this is the mission of the Pan-African Movement of Leaders (MPL) and Fly. These are the two municipalities most affected by Covid-19, Matoto and Ratoma, which have priority. Because the spatial distribution of confirmed cases of covid-19 indicates a high concentration in these two municipalities. According to statistics from health authorities, they account for 55% of Covid-19 cases in Guinea.
“These two municipalities are the two largest in the capital Conakry, if we can slow down the momentum of this pandemic in these areas, we can undoubtedly stop the coronavirus in a short time” believes Ms. Djenabou BAH, member of the influential women leaders, and member of the FLI movement. For her, Covid-19 is still in Guinea, therefore, we must act in strict compliance with barrier measures.
Recently, Guinea has experienced a dizzying drop in the rate of contamination. Thus, a 60-day response program was announced by the health authorities through the national health security agency (ANSS). One more reason, thinks the Pan-African Movement of Leaders, to redouble its efforts in respecting barrier measures and citizen commitment to supporting populations during this pandemic period.

In this phase of the fierce fight against covid-19, the MPL and FLI do not intend to give up. This is why more than 5,000 masks were offered by the two structures to the populations of several targeted areas.
In Ratoma, it is the solidarity city which shelters hundreds of destitute people and the beggars' base in front of the commune which were the targets of the Pan-African Movement of Leaders and FLI, where more than 1000 masks were distributed.
"This action is part of our project to raise awareness and distribute masks to vulnerable people, which is why we offered 1,500 masks to each of the two identified municipalities. Other activities are also planned in the coming days to further raise citizens' awareness of this pandemic. We thank our partners and ask for their support because the observation is that the need is there everywhere", said Fatoumata KEITA, president of MPL/Guinea.

Despite some reluctance to comply with the restrictive measures announced by the health authorities, this initiative is well received by the populations concerned. "This comforts us in more than one way, we are very happy with your arrival in our center and offering us masks. We ask the Almighty to accompany you in your activities to be able to further help poor people." said the general director of the Sogué center of the city of solidarity, Ms. Nancy.
To put an end to the spread of this pandemic in Guinea, the responsibility of everyone must be called upon. “Together Guineans can win against the coronavirus” concluded Aissatou SOW of the NGO FLI.
